In 1999, after owning and operating a successful barbecue restaurant in downtown Dallas, Jim Smith set out to create a smoker for home use that would recreate the amazing flavors and textures of the food his customers loved.

Thus, one man's lifelong passion for cooking turned into SmokinTex-the highest quality, stainless steel electric smokers around.

“I wanted to make smokers the way folks told us they wanted them,” Smith says.

That meant high-quality stainless steel, thick insulation, and electric power.


If You Build It, They Will Come

There was nothing on the market at that time that came close to meeting the standards of the people Jim Smith met from across the country who wanted a smoker for their own use. It needed to be affordable, but long-lasting and easy to use.

So he created his own specifications and contacted several manufacturers until he was satisfied he had found the right one to get the job done.

SmokinTex was born, and it was a hit.

In 2005, SmokinTex fulfilled another dream for Jim Smith with the launch of our line of commercial smokers for use in restaurants, catering companies, and large facilities like country clubs, lodges, and more.

“I decided to create a commercial smoker for restaurants like I wish I had been able to buy when I operated my own restaurant,” Smith says.

Once again taking the direction from his own experience and the requests of chefs and cooks in commercial settings, Smith designed SmokinTex commercial smokers to meet the needs of those who use them all day long every day.     Great smoker. Great retailer.

    The smoker is super! Have used it multiple times already. We had an issue with one of the racks before our first use and the customer service was helpful and understanding and had a replacement rack sent to us. I recommend the Grill Collection for your ourdoor cooking needs!

    Excellent Smoker

    I bought the ST in July of last year and have smoked almost everything. Brisket, Boston Pork Butts, and RIBS are some of my favorites. Over the past few months, numerous individuals have said that my ribs are the best they have ever had. I hand them out to individuals I just met while tailgating. When I say I'm smoking ribs today, my friends and family know to inquire if I'll have enough for them. I attempt to smoke more often than I need to. After acquiring the ST, you will require a temperature probe for the inside. I use a wifi since you need to keep an eye on the temperature when cooking brisket or pig butt.

    Great Product

    Although the cart is a fantastic, well-made product, be aware that the oven's temperature changes by 40 to 50 degrees. To keep track of the oven temperature, I purchased a Square DOT digital oven thermometer. I've made numerous batches of ribs and a pig roast, and they were all excellent. On the other hand, the complete, spatchcocked chicken I made and the chicken wings I made both turned out horribly. Both of their skins were hard and rubbery. The five pounds of wings were disposed of right away. The whole bird tasted pretty excellent, but I was only able to save the breast meat because of her tough, rubbery skin.
