Frequently Asked Questions
How should I start my grill?
Plug the power cord into a grounded power source. Open the main barrel lid. Check the burn grate to ensure there is no obstruction for proper ignition. Open the hopper lid. Ensure there are no foreign objects in the hopper or auger feed system. Fill the hopper with dry, all natural barbecue hardwood pellets. With the barrel lid closed, turn the unit on by pressing the Power Button. This will activate the start-up cycle: the feed system will begin to turn, the fan will start, and the igniter will begin to get hot. The grill will produce smoke while the start-up cycle is taking place. The pellets will have successfully ignited once the smoke has cleared. The start-up cycle lasts until the appliance reaches a minimum temperature of 65°C / 150°F or the igniter times out (10 minutes).Preheat your grill. Press the TEMP button to indicate that the setpoint temperature is displayed, and press the Temperature Adjust Arrows to a minimum of 121°C / 250°F for 20 minutes. After preheating is complete, set your desired temperature to start grilling! NOTE: When reducing your temperature, open the grill lid until the ACTUAL temperature is relatively close to your desired temperature. |
Why doesn't my grill power on?
The fuse is on the back of the control board in a little green box. To get to it, first unplug the grill. Remove the hopper side access panel. The control board has two screws on the front of it; remove them. Unplug the 8 pin harness from the board and the 2 probe wires, then take the control board out the side access panel of the hopper. Once the control board is out of the hopper, you may have to cut a tiny zip tie and remove the top of the fuse box. If the fuse wire is intact, contact our Customer Care Team. If the fuse wire is broken, you can test to see which part caused it to blow, as follows: Make sure you keep the grill unplugged from the outlet before testing. Disconnect the three components from the control board (auger motor: yellow wires, fan motor: blue wires, and igniter: red wires). Replace the fuse on the control board, (use a 5-amp fast blow appliance fuse). Plug the grill in and power on the unit to see if the fuse blows. If it does, you need a new control board. Contact our Customer Care team. If the fuse doesn’t blow, unplug the grill, and connect the fan (blue) wires. Plug in the grill and power it on. If the fuse blows, you need a new fan. Contact our Customer Care team. If the fuse doesn’t blow, unplug the grill and connect the auger motor (yellow) wires. Plug in the grill and power it on to see if the fuse blows. If it does, then you need a new auger motor. Contact our Customer Care team. If the fuse doesn’t blow, unplug the grill and connect the igniter wires (red) and then power on the grill to see if the fuse blows. If it does, you need a new igniter. Contact our Customer Care team. If the fuse never blows during this procedure, it could be that the grill is working fine now. You can continue to use the grill. The fuse could have blown due to a power surge in the home, etc. |
Why does my grill temperature swing from its set temp?
Your Louisiana Grill controls temperature by turning off and on the auger at specific intervals, which will cause a swing in temperatures of +/- 25 degrees and is completely normal. Some other things you can check that may help regulate your temperature: Check to make sure the flame broiler is installed properly. It should be resting on the bracket on the left side of the grill, as well as resting on top of the grease drain channel on the right side. If the flame broiler is placed properly you should see it at an angle, higher on the left side and lower on the right. If this is not how it is placed, it can cause many different temperature issues and even damage the finish on the bottom of the barrel. You will also want to make sure that the flame boiler slide cover is all the way closed. If it is open it will allow a lot of extra heat to escape, which will cause the grill to overheat. The fresher the pellets are, the better they will perform. If the pellets have absorbed any moisture due to humidity, they will not burn as efficiently as they would if they were in good condition. You can test their condition by taking one and seeing if it will snap in half crisply and not crumble. If the pellets are not in good condition, replace them. |
Why doesn't my auger move?
If your auger is not moving, it can be due to an auger jam, insecure connections to the control board, or insecure connections between the auger and the motor. Check for an auger jam. An auger jam will occur if the pellets inside the auger tube absorb enough humidity to swell and re-solidify. This creates a solid mass of broken-down pellets that surrounds the auger and will lock it in place. If the auger is jammed, the auger motor will not be able to spin the auger at all. To see if the pellets have solidified, look into the bottom of the hopper. (You may need to remove the top layer of pellets in the hopper first). If you see solid sawdust in the auger at the bottom of the hopper, that’s an auger jam. The auger will need to be removed from the grill and cleaned out. Open the side panel of the hopper. There are two Allen screws, one on each side of the auger. Remove these two screws and pull the auger motor and auger out. Chip away the solid pellets with something like a screwdriver. Once it is cleaned, reinsert the auger and motor, and this may solve the issue. If it isn’t an auger jam, it could be the connection. Check the auger motor connection to the control board (yellow wires) and make sure it is secure. Open the side panel of the hopper to access these wires. Another thing to check is whether the auger is connected properly to the auger motor. Open the side panel of the hopper. There are two Allen screws, one on each side of the auger. Remove these two screws and pull the auger motor and auger out. Then check the set screw on the auger lock collar that is closest to the motor. Is it secure? If it is loose, tighten it, and this may solve the issue. If it is missing, get one from a local hardware store and replace it. (It should be ¼ inch long with 5/16” threading). After connecting the auger securely to the motor, this may solve the issue. If it is not an auger jam, and the wires are connected securely to the control board, and the auger is connected securely to the auger motor, yet the auger is still not turning, contact Customer Care for assistance. |
Why isn't my fan turning?
Check the connection from the fan to the control board (blue wires) and make sure it is secure. Open the side panel of the hopper to access these wires. Make sure nothing is obstructing the fan blades. Clean the fan with warm, soapy water, then use a lubricant, such as WD-40. If the fan is still not running, please contact Customer Care for assistance. |
Why doesn't my grill light?
Many factors can cause your Louisiana Grill not to light. Some things you can check before contacting Customer Care: Confirm that there are pellets in the unit and that they are in good condition. They should look a bit shiny on the outside and snap crisply instead of crumbling. Ensure that the proper startup was followed for your grill. Your fan should start up when you power on the unit and should run without stopping. If it is not running, it could be one of the following things. If your grill is smoking, but not igniting it means there is a lack of airflow from the induction fan. The induction fan not running can be from the fan seizing over time, no power being delivered to the fan, or a not functioning fan. A small object can be used to loosen the fan by spinning it, while the grill is in the off position. Ensure the igniter is getting hot or glowing orange and that you can feel heat coming from the fire pot after a couple of minutes. Ensure that pellets are feeding into the fire pot and that the auger is turning. Ensure that your burn grate is properly installed. |
Why isn't my grill getting hot enough
A grill that is not getting to temp can be caused by many factors. Outside temperature and wind are common issues that can prevent a grill from reaching its top end temperatures. Ensure your Louisiana Grill is in a location protected from the elements as much as possible. Fuel and airflow are other reasons for a grill to not reach its highest temperatures. Pellets should always be stored in an airtight container to prevent them from being affected by moisture. To ensure proper airflow, make sure that your Louisiana Grill is at least 36” away from combustible constructions, all back vents are unobstructed, and that the fan is clean. |
Why don't I see smoke coming from my grill?Cooking at lower temperatures will produce more smoke in your cook. Wood pellet grills burn extremely clean. The smoke they produce is a thin, bluish smoke that is almost fully invisible. The reason you may see some white smoke on startup is due to the pellets smoldering just before they ignite. Over time, you will also begin to see white smoke during a cook as the flame broiler becomes more and more seasoned. Becoming seasoned with drippings will enhance the flavor and color of the smoke. |
How do I use the flame broiler?
The flame broiler is used as both a grease pan and for an open flame cook. During normal cooks the flame broiler should remain closed, both to prevent fires and ensure proper grease draining. To cook with an open flame, the top slider of the flame broiler can be opened and cooking directly over the fire is allowed. Always leave the main grill lid open while the flame broiler is in the open position. |
Is it normal for my flame broiler to rust or warp?It is normal for your flame broiler to rust and slightly warp due to the high heat and oxidization applied to it. You should not use water to clean the flame broiler because it accelerates rusting. Over time the flame broiler gets seasoned with grease and smoke, which protects it from rust, so it does not need to be super clean. The best way to clean the flame broiler is to scrape it, either with a putty knife or by using the slide cover to slide back and forth over it to scrape off debris. If the flame broiler for your Louisiana Grill does not drain grease to the grease bucket or shows holes that are not from manufacturing, please contact Customer Care. |
Error CodesError codes can pop up on your grill from time to time. Please refer to the owner’s manual for your grill for what may be causing the error codes. |
Is it okay to use my Louisiana Grill in the rain?In North America, all Louisiana Pellet Grills must be plugged into a 110v outlet to function. Your grill can be used in a light rain, but since it is an electronic appliance, care must be taken to prevent any connections from being exposed to rain. |
What pellets should I use in my grill?
To ensure proper performance, we always recommend using Pit Boss or Louisiana Grills brand pellets in your grill, however, you can use other brands of pellets in the grill. Never use heating pellets in your Louisiana Grill. Heating pellets may contain materials other than 100% hardwood, which can be harmful to your health. |
How often should I clean my grill? We recommend cleaning your grill after running 40-60 lbs of pellets through your Louisiana Grill. To clean your grill, you can use a vacuum to remove the ash from the fire pot and bottom of the grill, scrape any grease from your flame broiler, and wipe down the grill with a light degreaser. |

Once I decided on buying this particular model, I did exhaustive research on several different vendors and settled on the Grill Collection, because of their amazing customer service, response time, and unbelievable price match. Jerome was absolutely amazing to work with, and I very much look forward to ordering the rest of my appliances and equipment for my outdoor kitchen space in the coming days. The customer service from Grill Collection is unmatched by any of the other companies I have spoken with. Someone is always right there to step in and answer a question for you. After sending an email inquiry, I received a response in less than two hours. The delivery process was flawless. Once I was notified the grill had shipped, I was immediately given my tracking number, and within days I was contacted by the carrier to set up delivery. The delivery process was incredibly smooth, they placed the grill exactly where I requested it, they inspected it with me, and I couldn't be happier. From shipping to arrival, it was less than a week before it arrived to ship cross country. If you are in need of anything for your backyard space, Grill Collection is the place to buy it!!!

The primary reason I chose Grill Collection is because they had the item I wanted in stock where other sites selling the same item wasn't available till the end of the year. I had already purchased the unit from another website and I really didn't want to go through the hassle of trying to get a refund and then waiting for the refund and then turning around and purchasing another unit somewhere else. I purchased the unit from the other website previously because their website said I would receive the unit by the end of July. When the transaction was completed and they finally received the notice from the manufacturer the shipping and receiving dates changed. It was now shipping by Nov 27th and receiving by Dec 2nd, basically I would be waiting half a year to receive my order so that wasn't going to work. By then summer is over!!! Second and most important reason I chose Grill Collection is because of Erica's awesome customer service, many many thanks to Erica for her service. She finalized my decision based on many factors besides the fact that I'm an Amazon Prime Member and paying through Amazon would work for me as well but also these reasons: 1. Prompted to serve customers need. 2. If I had problems with my order I know it wouldn't take hours to get s hold of customer service 3. Talking to a live representative vs machine 100% 4. Piece of mind knowing that I'm doing business with a company that's 100% behind my customer satisfaction with guaranteed product availability and delivery, makes me want to purchase only from them. 5. Lower price definitely!!! 6. 👍😇😉😆 Thank you Can't wait to get my grill!!

I had a fantastic experience with the Grill Collection. First when I was shopping online for the Napoleon Prestige 500 grill you had the lowest price online. I was shopping late on a Saturday night and was not expecting anyone to be available to chat to answer some questions but someone was available (I forget his name) and he answered my questions so I placed the order that day. Lastly I know most of these were taking 4 weeks to ship but you were able to ship mine in under 3 weeks, sooner than expected. Post order support was great as well. You should be very proud of the service you provide, few companies have people online available to chat at on the weekends and shipping sooner than expected is rare!
